Foundations 5: Energy Energy Energy

Updated: Jun 16, 2024

Ok, this is the bit where we finally get a little esoteric in the information. And there's a reason energy is fifth in the lineup. That is, simply put, because the first four are needed to be able to interact with and understand energy.

First and foremost, energy cannot be created or destroyed. Yeah. We all already know that, right? But do you know what it means in a spiritual context? It means once upon a time, you were a rock. Once upon a time, you were a plant. Once upon a time, you were even A FREAKING DINOSAUR!! Some piece of you, some atom and molecule that makes up your body within the cells of living tissue contain the energy of all those things and more.

When you hear the wise old gurus saying we are all connected, take that as truth. Both in the literal scientific way and the mystical ephemeral way.

Next though is that we have an amazing ability as humans to consciously shape and mold energy the way we see fit. If you have been working on Rituals, Body, Presence, and Meditation you probably have started to realize this. Slight changes to your day that at first didn't seem big...but they keep happening. Something around you is changing. You are shaping the very energy that is in freeform around us all the time. This is changing what you say. The way you react to situations. What you're seeing, or rather perceiving.

We alone have this ability. That's why these foundations are so crucial to your spiritual development. Spirits can't shape energy. They have no physicality with which to do so. Shaping of energy is restricted to physical and mental capabilities inherent in us. But wait, why only us? Wouldn't that also mean animals too? No. That's where the mentality comes into play. Animals do not necessarily have freedom of choice. Even the family dog who is so loving and caring to you and yours, you chose them to be in your family. You taught them how to behave that way. Animals are subject to their base natures and the nurturing/education of domestication when applicable. They do not have the ability of conscious choice. We do and it is this very human trait that allows us to physically shift energy.

The first four foundations help you to bring awareness to yourself. This allows you to control the energy you are calling in and how you are charging it. While we have discussed meditation, I want it to be understood at this point that this and the first four posts have had a focus on the Body. We have not yet gotten into the Mind.

How about we take a moment to talk about the components of a spiritual lifestyle; Body, Mind, and Spirit? We often hear and accept the teachings of forsaking the body and ignoring the mind to become our true spiritual selves. I do not subscribe to that school of thought. A truly spiritual lifestyle takes full account of all three components. Your body, as we discussed, is utilized for receiving signals and communications from the world around you. Your body then has the job of responding to those same communications. Mind is about our thoughts and our processing center. Taking the signals and communications, applying understanding to them, and then storing them as reference points for later use. And then Spirit is about our unique abilities and what makes us who we are.

At our very center though, we are energy. Everything is energy and everything is in vibration and creating frequencies. When we align we begin to feel these vibrations and frequencies. Tapping into energy and utilizing energy in its raw form is when we begin to connect more directly with the universe as a whole.

Let’s look at crystals for an example.

In this new wave of awakening, people are getting into crystals. They want them for healing or protection or whatever reasons. When it comes to choosing crystals though it becomes a little murky. They may read about them and read some overly repeated information and decide that’s the crystal they need. They run to a store, buy one, and then bring it home. At this point, they realize not much is changing for them. They aren’t being healed. Life isn’t transforming.

What happened is the same thing I spoke about in Rituals with the horse painting example. People wrote down information they perceived about specific crystals. Some people had luck and perceived similar information from those crystals. Other people read these accounts and copied them. Over time this developed into the "Crystal Codices" we have today. It's a very impersonal approach that also reflects on our society at large. The reflection is that “take take take,” mentality.

Instead, with some energy working, you can identify your specific needs and then go into a shop that sells crystals and ask which crystals can help. Then, while in an Active Meditation state, you simply shop around. Notice if anything catches your eye distinctly. Touch them and see if you feel anything like a soft vibration or pulsing. Maybe even warmth when they should be cold. All of these subtle things are energetic signals from the crystals saying, “I can help you.” If you just go with what is said about crystals you miss out on building actual partnerships with them.

Once you have energetically connected and brought a crystal home sit with it for a while and go into an expansive meditation. Let the energy of the crystal connect to you and record any images you saw or emotions you felt. This tells you why the crystal was reaching out and how it, as a unique specimen, is willing to help you.

Now that you know which unique crystal and what it does for you, the next step is to incorporate that energy into your daily routines. Just buying a crystal and sitting it in your house doesn’t do anything. Crystals don’t do the work, they lend their support and energetic frequencies to you for the work you need to do. Setting a crystal in your house and expecting it to change things on its own is like saying you need to shower and run the water while never getting in.

Crystals are just one common example we can see today. Energy though is all around us and within us. WE ARE ENERGY. Energy is about partnership and relationship. How does this energetic signature relate to that energetic signature? Can those different energetic signatures work together? The first four posts in my Foundations series were gearing you up for this part. This is the role of the body. To work with energy directly.

Every time you touch someone you transfer energy to them and they to you. That saying, “Attitudes are contagious, is yours worth catching,” is truer than we realize. Because the emotions we are carrying, our thoughts, our values, etc. paint our energetic signature. And with energy work, we can transmute and change those signatures to exemplify what we would rather be giving out.

Every time we speak we create vibrations in the air charging the energy around. Words do have power. Thoughts create energetic changes in our bodies.

We have all had a moment in our lives when we think about death. Specifically, we think about our death. We may have had a great day but for whatever reason we find ourselves lying in bed that night thinking about this event. We start to wonder about all the different scenarios that could play out. Being human, we tend to lean towards the worst-case scenarios. By the end we are crying our eyes out because we came to the conclusion no one will be there, no one cares or loves us, or no one will have good things to say about us.

If you are going into that thought pattern right now, stop. Don’t go there. You are loved. You are cared for. You are important and you matter.

That scenario though is an example of how our thoughts can change the entire energy of ourselves in a moment. Once I was at a friend’s house and it had been a rotten day at work. I vented out all my anger and frustration. After letting it all out, I paused for a second and realized I had just brought that into someone else’s home and sanctuary. Which wasn’t fair to them. I apologized and went into an expansive active meditation state. I called back all the energy I had just expelled, balled it up, and fed it to the earth to be filtered and recycled. My friend watched me do this and told me after how his dog, who had perpetual zoomies, stopped playing the second I closed my eyes. The dog looked all around the house like he was watching a bunch of flies. Then the dog focused on me and would not take his eyes off of me. His gaze followed my movements to look down as I pushed the energy down and after I opened my eyes he started playing again.

Animals may not move energy the way we do but they are more sensitive to energy than us.

None of this is new. Working directly with energy has been around for ages untold at this point. It is how we progressed and survived as a species. The issue is that we have grown weaker at it over the years rather than stronger in these practices. Sure there is reiki and such out there but those only scratch at the surface of what can be done with energy. And today everyone is about love and light. That’s great but we have to remember darkness exists too and the energy of darkness is not evil. Darkness should be as respected and revered as light. And love is powerful but it can become destructive and devastating if not handled carefully and respectfully.

I like to work with the purest outcry of universal energy. Innocence. It is void of any charges of intent or emotion—just pure energy that allows me to be inspired and innovative. I don’t need to reinvent the wheel when it comes to energy. I call out for Innocence to come forth and from that, I charge it and create the specific energies I need in the moment.

And you can do all of this too as you build into your spiritual life. You will learn other lessons than just what I have said. You will learn your way of pushing and pulling energies. How to weave energy or put up energetic walls if needed. There are very few limits to what can be done with energy work. It may seem like a more intermediate skill set but I believe it should be something taught early on because it helps to stabilize your Foundations. And it does, as everything, take time so start practicing early on rather than later.

Thank you for reading. I tried to keep this one a little shorter after the last one. But also this topic will be revisited later as we go deeper down the rabbit hole.

Have a great day and see you next time!
